F&Q : Lash lift & Tint

WHAT IS A LASH LIFT & TINT?

A lash lift is a lash perming procedure made specifically for your natural lashes. We use silicone shields and gentle perming solutions, to create lashes that are lifted and curled. The results are highly dependent on the length, fullness, and flexibility of the client's natural lashes.

WILL A LASH LIFT DAMAGE MY LASHES?

Absolutely not! Lash lift and the tint we use are designed specifically for the lashes. As long as you are following proper aftercare, your lashes will be perfectly safe and healthy.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?

Results can last 3–8 weeks for lash lift and 2–4 weeks for tint, depending on the aftercare, how much the lashes are touched by hands and pillows and such, and the client's natural lash growth cycle. The faster the natural lashes grow, the sooner the lash lift will grow out. To maintain lifted lashes, re-book lashes will have to be re-lifted every 6–8 weeks. We have seen clients who come in regularly for lash lifts have the lift last longer as it's training the lashes to stay curled.

CAN I WEAR MASCARA AND USE A LASH CURLER?

You can wear mascara, but keep in mind the more you touch and rub your lashes, the sooner the tint and the lift will come out. However, waterproof mascara needs to be avoided, as to remove waterproof mascara you need an oil-based product. Oil pulls the colour and curl out quickly. This can also happen with natural oils from the skin.

Absolutely no lash curler as it can cause structural damage to the lashes. This could cause the lashes to break.

DOES A LASH LIFT ONLY WORK ON LONG LASHES?

The amount a lift works depends on the lashes themselves. We have had people with short lashes whose lashes curled amazingly and long lashes that didn't lift much, and vice versa. It really depends on the lashes themselves and how they react to the product.

WHO IS NOT SUITED TO GET A LASH LIFT?

  • If you have a cold, or flu, or are sick, it is not recommended you get a lash lift. We want to ensure that there is no risk of transmission of pathogens, as the aestheticians are close to your face while doing this service.

  • Skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis around the eye area are not suitable for a lash lift, as the adhesive comes into contact with the skin and may cause irritation.

  • If you recently had eye surgery, you need to obtain a doctor’s note advising that it is safe to proceed with a lash lift.

  • During a lash lift, the serums are applied very close to the base of the natural lash. If the eyes start watering excessively, it may cause the serums to run into the eyes, which may cause injury.

  • Have very little natural eyelashes or have nothing or have twisted/turned lashes. A lash lift only enhances what you have, so if you are missing some of the natural lashes, or they are turning/twisting, this can be amplified by the lift.

  • Pre-existing eyelid conditions such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and ocular rosacea can cause issues with a lash lift.

  • Chemotherapy patients are not candidates for lash lifts. You may get a lash lift after 1 year of completion of chemotherapy.

CAN I GET A LASH LIFT WHILE PREGNANT?

Research on how lash lifts affect pregnant or breastfeeding people has not been done by the industry to know how this can affect the baby.

Consider if you do decide to get one, hormones change during pregnancy and breast-feeding. The composition of hair can change during this period and can cause unpredictable results.
